Meese Given Term In Cut

Willard M. Meese, an engineer for the Western Maryland Railroad, was sentenced to one year in jail by Judge George A Solter in Baltimore. He had been arrested on a bench warrant issued after conflicting testimony in the Panter Lumber Company suit against the railroad. February evidence showed Meese stated a man was present during the lumber yard fire, but in October he gave a different account. The bench warrant followed, and Meese claimed he aimed to protect the man. A jury later ruled in favor of the railroad.
