The Legislative Council in Annapolis reports 31 bills to be introduced at the 1941 session with council backing. It notes 60 proposals received and hearings for 35 state departments plus institutions. The research division produced nine reports on topics from fireworks to municipal legislation.
The council approved a fireworks control bill close to the measure defeated by the Senate in 1989 after a highly debated session. The ordinance also touches on automobile tags and permanent vehicle tags and would revise Legislature rules to speed up deliberations.
Sir Frederick Phillips, undersecretary of the British treasury, arrived at the Treasury building in Washington to meet Secretary Henry Morgenthau Jr for a scheduled conference.
A correction notes Mrs. Arden Woon did not reside in California and says Mrs. Roar lives in Ubis city while visiting California. It reports Mr. Roane was killed by a Pennsylvania engine here Saturday evening and had planned a California trip for Christmas with his wife and sons. It adds that camels were once used by the U S Army for transport in Arizona.
Martinsburg West Virginia December 10 publication of the Martinsburg News weekly will be taken over December 15 by the Berkeley Priming and Publishing Company. John G Byrer said he would manage the publication. The new firm was issued a charter by the Secretary of State. Incorporators include Byrer Fred T Byrer of Hagerstown Md and S Woods Byrer of Martinsburg.
