Farmer Battles 20 Deputies Over Post Office Site
W Chambers, a U S post office inspector, outlined issues facing the Post Office Department and Treasury in selecting sites to maximize service. About twenty proposed locations were reviewed and inspected with owners interviewed as a Civic Center debate arose for Hagerstown. The post office building would be first, with plans for a courthouse and city hall later. An appropriation of 270000 for Hagers town was discussed as sufficient for a first class building.
