Give the hiccougher a 10 ounce glass of water sip slowly while you plug his ears with both index fingers. Keep ears plugged until water is finished. Then unplug. The man should recover.
Nelson Perkins, 42, a Cambridge Massachusetts radio salesman, found himself labeled in the Soviet magazine Moscow New Times as the typical American. The article praised his quiet nature and suggested he longed for a peaceful life, noting his seemingly candid reflections on American life.
Denver reports infantile paralysis cases rising to 466 nationwide with 154 in Denver. Public schools delayed their start from September 3 to September 16 as health authorities reassess conditions.

Miami Florida August 20 Lieutenant W E Hubert Navy micro seismologist reported a quake he called heavy to severe centered in the Caribbean area He noted the tremor occurred just before 9 am while reviewing the micro seismograph He could not locate the epicenter from one recording saying yesterday’s quake was centered off the Dominican Republic and the area has been badly shaken by a series of quakes If in the same area it would be strong if new area severe but not as severe as past events

The suspect Beatty confessed to killing Lois Nelson after the girl was found with clothes ripped and stabbed five times. A hunting knife lay nearby. initial evidence showed no immediate rape. Beatty admitted the act to his sobbing mother and stepfather at the county jail.
Beatty, described as good looking and about 130 pounds, was deemed a respectable young man. He dated Miss Nelson occasionally. both were part of the 1943 Danville High School graduating class. Nelson, active in the Lutheran church, worked in a glove factory office.
