Negro Admits to Murder of Young Bride in Chicago
Chicago dispatch reports Rufe Swain, a powerfully built Black man with a minor gambler past, confessed to murdering 24 year old Mrs Mary Louise Trammell in a Chicago hotel room. Police said he strangled and beat the bride after a robbery attempt. husband Thomas Trammell, a dining car steward, was away at the time. Swain, a Little Rock resident, cracked after lengthy questioning and is to be further questioned about a prior hotel slaying.
