Airport WPA funds approved for municipal runway upgrade
The WPA office in Baltimore approved the Municipal Airport improvement application and sent it to Washington for final action. Harry D. Williar Jr said final approval was requested last week. The plan includes two concrete runways a new hangar and office building flood lighting and extra land purchase with total cost around 118 000 and the city share about 15 000.

Youth Drowns At Miami Beach Near Bowley's Quarters
Five year old Thomas Franklin of Baltimore drowned at Miami Beach Bowleys Quarters on Sunday. He was last seen playing on the beach and later found by James Stottmeyer of Baltimore in about four feet of water after a search began when he was missing.

Three Mishaps Reported In Boonsboro Area
Three automobile accidents occurred Sunday night into Monday morning, with State Officer J. A. White and sheriffs deputies on scene. The most serious happened near Evans Smith’s garage in Boonsboro where Thomas Hawthorne of Washington, D. C. stopped for gas. E. Bosworth of Cresson veered to avoid him, injuring Mrs. Sara Bosworth, Mrs. Ida Hosey, and Hawthorne slightly, while gasoline spilled and the hose tore free. Boonsboro First Company washed the spill. Earlier, Alvin Ingram’s car, near Turtle Creek, was sideswiped by Charles B. Ploesch of Turtle Creek. Ploesch was found guilty of reckless driving and fined ten dollars plus costs. Another crash at Huyetts Crossroads damaged a truck and a car when William Todd tried to pass the truck operated by James Rider of Cumberland and struck Kerlin L. Poffenberger at 500 Frederick Street.
