Annual roast showcases church life and community

The fifth annual corn and wine roast by St. Paul's United Brethren Men’s Bible Class drew 410 attendees at William Eckatine’s Hagerstown home. 1,100 ears of corn and donations of food, drinks, and supplies were shared cafeteria style, with Blue Ridge Mountain Boys providing music and Boy Scouts managing safety and parking. Notables included Rev. J. H. Ness and Rev. J. B. Reed. the event was organized by Chester Harbaugh and a 15-member committee.

Union Meeting at City Park Draws Large Crowd

The W C T U held its regular monthly meeting at City Park with a large turnout. Readings by Mrs R B Daubert titled Being Clinkered and Deacon Brown Goes A-Wooing followed a picnic dinner. The 18th Amendment was noted as still in the Constitution. Esther Roxanna Havre de Grace Md wed Kenneth G Stoner of this city on August 12 in Kennedyville. The couple plans to reside at 516 Reynolds Ave after a trip to Ocean City Md. Announcement made of Mildred Louise Carter to Donald R Beckley with wedding set for Williamson Pa. The Club invites Alsatia Club members and guests to a dance with Jerry Harp’s Orchestra at The Club on August 16.

Scouts Camp Weekend at Negleys Farm Near Broadfording

Scouts of Troop 12 St Johns Episcopal church completed a two night encampment at Negleys farm near Broadfording from Friday to Sunday. Nine pup tents and one army squad tent were used with J Webb and Edward McBrien leading. Kiwanis Club Plans All Day At Fountain Head

Kiwanis members will spend a day at Fountain Head Country Club with golf tennis bridge and chat options from 2 30 p m to after midnight. Lodge Plans Weiner Roast At Greencastle Camp

Blue Mountain lodge of the Fraternal Home Insurance Society schedules a weiner roast for Wednesday evening August 23 at Lels Camp grounds south of Greenastle with games and amusements.
