More than 78000 dollars in Wingert heirs property sold at public sale in front of the Court House for unpaid county and state taxes. The northeast corner lot on the Public Square renamed by Humrhouse Brothers brought 60009 to E J Smead. Lyman H Reamer bought his wife Miss Wingert s home for 14950 with Smead bidding again. Old Spoke and Bending Works site sold for 2200 to C Hook. A lot by the Western Maryland Railway near Mulberry avenue bought by Garland E Groh for 370. Sale described as largest local tax sale. two other non tax properties also sold.

No Accidents At Hagerstown Auto Club Amid Busy Tour Season
The Automobile Club of Maryland reports no accidents at its Hagerstown branch since opening June 15. Supervisor Raymond L. Peak notes a steady flow of visitors with about fifteen cars on the road daily guided by AAA information cars. Peak aims for 200 members by August 15 and 500 by 1928, with 179 enrolled to date.

Youth Burned by Gasoline Flames
Charles Newman of East Washington Street was badly burned while painting his bicycle at home. A lit match tossed away from the project ignited a can of gasoline, flame catching the bicycle and burning him severely along one side. He was taken to Washington County Hospital where his condition was slightly improved and he rested more comfortably.

Moose Stares Down Prince on Woodland Trail
In Chapleau Ontario on August 9, the Prince of Wales train paused as a full grown bull moose emerged on the right of way. The animal stood unafraid and stared toward the royal coach during the westward journey.

Union Picnic Plans Ready
