Six Arsenal Workers Move to Three Shifts for War Production
Secretary Stimson ordered six army arsenals to run on three 8 hour shifts daily from August 10 to boost munitions output by at least 65 percent. The plan, approved by President Roosevelt after talks with Sidney Hillman, would employ over 1,000 additional skilled workers and possibly double that number in other staff across Rock Island Watertown Frankford Picatinny Watervliet and Springfield arsenals.

The project began July 26 and runs 174 working days, aiming for April 10, 1941, with a 28 foot roadway and 24 foot approaches. Contractors include Thomas, Bennett and Hunter. Pangborn Employees Outing Planned With Parade and Fun
The Pangborn Employees Athletic Association led by L. L. Stouffer schedules a Saturday 9:30 am departure for Pen Mar Park returning that evening. The Pangborn Band led by Robert Fleagle plays at Western Maryland station and in Pen Mar, with clowns, flags for children, voice-contest tags, ride tickets, dancing, contests and prize awards throughout the day. Zel Smith's 12 piece swing band provides music, with a prize waltz, Pail Jones dances, and Mawalian entertainment during intermission and after supper.

Arnold Reunion Held at Braddock Heights
The annual Arnold Reunion drew about 150 members and friends to Braddock Heights on Sunday. With the president away, Mrs. Edgar Thomas presided as vice president and the program featured hymns, readings, addresses by Rev. Bowlus and Rev. Brake, musical numbers, and benediction. Gifts went to the oldest man and woman, the youngest child, the youngest married couple, the furthest distance, and the largest family present. The 1941 reunion is planned to be held the next year.
