Willig I Morgan of 300 Rock of Liberty Street and Russell Horning of 540 Salon Avenue were arrested yesterday on charges of driving a coal truck while intoxicated. Deputy Sheriff Isanegle detained them after two near accidents on Friday afternoon near Conoscocheagte. J M Stevens reported he was forced from the road. Warning is charged with driving on expired licenses.
Leonard Nugent, 20, a Staten Island high school graduate, confessed to a week of robberies eight in number ending in the death of Isadore Cohen, 42, a button broker, after quitting his job as a printer’s devil. He allegedly wounded a sweetheart and staged nine holdups, with Cohen dying from a heart wound after a confrontation in a washroom at 28th Street and Broadway.
Checks totaling 5360 for 104 farmers who complied with the 1939 wheat allotment are distributed at the county agent office. Total paid under the 1939 price adjustment program reaches 26743.80 with 50 percent of farmers benefiting. the checks pay 11 cents per bushel on the allotment. For example a 60 acre farm producing 20 bushels per acre with 1200 bushels earns 132 cents, assuming no overseeded acreage.
County Agent Milt De Moore will go to College Park on Tuesday for a conference on the home town feed and pasture improvement program started in Washington county by the Extension Service of the University of Maryland this year. New York August 5 Ro sita Royce dove dancer at the World's Fair was hospitalized with a serious nervous condition after performing ten times daily since the exhibitions opening. Fourteen of her twenty one doves were under veterinary care in her apartment with seven hearts ailment and others swollen joints incapaciated.
Gov Herbert R O’Conor in Annapolis disapproved budget amendments to retain seven workers on the State Industrial Accident Commission payroll as special services officers. Budget director Walter Kirkman recommended denial noting lack of merit system examinations. Some had been kept since 1925 and 1936, authorities said, prompting concern over state funds.

He enlisted in the Union army as a youth and served under General Sherman at Petersburgh and Sailor's Run, surviving the war with five siblings and two surviving sons Charles and William W. of nearby towns remaining.
Harold Holt Jr aged three died in New Rochelle New York hospital after an intestinal obstruction caused by a Wilm's tumor. The cancer spread to lungs liver kidneys and intestines despite experimental X ray treatment and volunteer hospital care. He was from Monessen PA and endured a protracted fight with few cures in the medical record.
Imperial Airways introduces trans Atlantic mail flight using the Caribou and Cahoot. A 24 ton mail payload departs Southampton at 2 14 am EST headed for Foynes Ireland then Botwood Newfoundland with refueling en route. Weekly mail service runs August through September with no passengers.
