The death bulletin, signed by Court Marshal von Gontard, announced the empress and queen's death and said funeral services would be held at Potsdam. The ex Kaiser and Prince Albert, her youngest son, were at her bedside and left the apartment after death as bells tolled in Doorn announcing the death to the public.

A second severe frost and ice last night devastates fruit and vegetables across Washington County. Collision damages Dr Smiths car near Jug Bridge
George Doebring, 34, of Baltimore, suffered two broken legs and severe bruising when the sidecar motorcycle he rode collided with Dr W Hamilton Smith of Hagerstown on the Baltimore pike near Jug Bridge. Doebhring and Dr Smith aided at Frederick City Hospital after the crash. Dr Smith stopped, drove Doebring to hospital, and helped in treatment. Dr Smiths new Studebaker coupe had radiator damage and both lights broken. the motorcycle sidecar was smashed.
