John Maendeto, 22, of Scarsdale New York, a student pilot, died in a midair crash near Roosevelt Field Mineola New York. Douglas Turnwell of Garden City New York, his fellow flyer, and Walter Barlow of Ozone Park New York were injured, with Turnwell reported in critical condition and Barlow in serious condition.

Washington April. Chief Justice Wheat of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia refused an injunction against the Senate lobby committee. The committee disclosed a group of wealthy industrialists contributing to a New Deal organization as it examined telegrams between Hearst and his employer. Justice Wheat upheld the committee’s contention that it could examine such communications as part of its inquiry.
