About 8000 persons from four states and the District of Columbia are expected to attend a full day rally of Odd Fellows in this city on Saturday April 15. National and international officers will be present including Grand Sire Burton A Gaskill and Rebekah leaders. The event marks the lodge centennial and will feature meetings parades banquets and degree work at multiple venues with headquarters at Hotel Alexander.

Canal program speeds up to Seneca reach this summer
National Park Service officials said improvements of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal to Seneca Maryland should be finished this summer, making a 22 mile canal bed ready for water from Georgetown. Secretary Ickes had not decided on operations beyond Cumberland, Md. The Interior Department paid 2 million dollars for the right of way.

Peach Trees in Bloom Across Maryland Counties

Hit Run Driver Sought After Maryland Collision
Mrs. Mary Virginia Tharp of 700 block South Potomac Street was injured when struck by a hit and run vehicle on a national highway four miles west of Hagerstown. She was taken to Washington County Hospital with cuts and bruises as deputies report her husband Ernest Tharp changing a tire. the car failed to stop.

Driver Hurt In Highway Crash Near Hagerstown

Winchester Man Murder Victim in M. C. A. Dormitory Case
Louis Marshall Baker, 47, tied to the Baker chocolate family of Winchester Virginia, died after a beating near a YMCA dormitory. Identified by friends, Baker once hosted royalty and connected to a Virginia State League club. Detectives noted a stranger with him on Saturday night. a public figure and a physician corroborated the name. The assault occurred early Sunday. four ribs broken and internal bleeding caused his death at Shadyside Hospital. A brother, Sandy Baker, Winchester city treasurer, arranged the body’s return.
