Tehachipa valley outlook for huge grain yield amid frost risks

Stabbing Affray in Tehachipa Leaves Hopkins Wounded

Report cites a morning quarrel outside Summit hotel between R M Spencer and Lou Hopkins over craps and fare games. Spencer stabbed Hopkins in the back, the knife piercing Hopkins right kidney, a serious wound with no arrests yet. witnesses reluctant to speak as locals known to both men anticipate further trouble.

Ladies of the W C T U Push Public Fountain Project

The W C T U ladies led by Mesdames Fish McLeod Stockton Hunter and Tracy are canvassing for subscriptions for a public drinking fountain in the city. Supervisors have granted permission, leaving the final shape and cost to the generosity of residents. The effort enjoys broad citizen support for public welfare.

Raisin Growers Meet in Fresno to Plan Uniform Brand

California Raisin Growers Association schedules a June 17 1893 meeting at Kutner's Hall Fresno to finalize a packing and selling plan with a uniform grade and brand and discuss establishing a raisin exchange. All growers invited to attend and may contact F E Valentine Bakersfield agent about travel. Mrs Winslow's Soothing Syrup advertised for teething children at twenty five cents a bottle.

Syrup of Figs Advertises Pure Laxative Remedy

An 19th century style advertisement touts Syrup of Figs as a pure liquid laxative that cleanses the system and aids kidneys, liver, and bowels without weakening them. It claims universal medical approval, reports comfort and health improvement, and advertises 50c and 1 bottle sizes sold by druggists. Produced by the California Fig Syrup Co. with its name on each package.

Pain Balm Aids Rheumatism Cure Claims in Lynchburg

A Lynchburg reader commends Chamberlain's Pain Balm for curing a two year rheumatism case in a single bottle, recommending it to friends. Also promotes Chamberlain's Colic Remedy for travel diarrhoea prevention and lists five to ten acre Virginia colony tracts for sale at $60 per acre with water rights, plus town lots on installment plans by H. F. Williams.
