Huskies Sweep Hudson Regatta Set New Course Record

Washington crews swept the Hudson regatta at Poughkeepsie. Husky varsity won by three and a half lengths over Navy, with Cornell third and California fading to fifth. Jayvee and Frosh also won, restoring a second straight clean Husky sweep.

Discovery of invisible electricity linked to plane crashes

Denver June 22. The American Association for the Advancement of Science reports a new cause for crashes: invisible electricity streaming as static behind airliners in flight breaks radio signals before fatal crashes. The association also claims a wire behind a plane may stop the static perils of aviation.

Roosevelt Jr Turns Down Ensign Commission

Boston Herald reports Franklin D Roosevelt Jr will not receive an Ensigns Commission upon graduation from Harvard Naval Reserve course due to failure to pass the physical exam after winter illness requiring hospitalization for throat infection. University officials declined comment.

Meherin and Billingsley Arrive in Juneau Aboard Yukon

J J Meherin of Hills Brothers and A T Billingsley Standard Oil Company construction head arrived in Juneau last evening aboard the steamer Yukon. Meherin just completed a business trip through the Interior while Billingsley was in the Westward for plant repairs by his company.

Juneau Ketchikan Designated Ports of Entry

The Customs Bureau designated three airports for landing aircraft from foreign countries. Juneau and Ketchikan in Alaska and Port Townsend in Washington are named as ports of entry with annual reaffirmation. 12 year old saves mother and kills father in Port Angeles

Steel mediation board to meet Youngstown plant head

Hans Floe Family Tenders in Port

Gannery tenders in port today included the Fairweather from Hawk Inlet and the Mercury making her first season call from Excursion Inlet. The Mercury moored at Juneau Lumber Mills and the Fairweather at Pemmer’s Float. The Fairweather brought Superintendent Hans Floe into Juneau from the P. E. Harris cannery and returned to Hawk Inlet with Henry Rorden as passenger and cannery workers. Floe met his wife and daughter aboard the Alaska from the South, then to Hawk Inlet.
