Pilot Dies in Aberdeen Plane Crash
Leland Pinkham aged 30 of Aberdeen was killed when a plane wreck occurred during testing at about 4000 feet. He stayed with the ship to maneuver it away from homes, bailed out but his parachute failed to open in time. The crash happened at Hume and Garfield Streets near Donovan Lumber Mill. Survivors include his widow Alice and his Portland- based parents.

Chain Gang Fight Ends In State Supreme Court Ruling
Atlanta, June 15. Angelo Herndon, a Negro Communist, lost another round in his effort to escape the chain gang under a Reconstruction era statute. The State Supreme Court unanimously held the statute does not violate state or federal constitutions. Communistic literature found in his possession was the basis of his conviction four years ago. He has been free on a 7500 dollar bond. An appeal will be made to the Supreme Court. Last year the court refused to review another aspect of the case.
