Bethel church snake handling demonstration halted by deputies
Deputies Jake Laffleur and Charles E. McNutt broke up a planned rattlesnake demonstration at The Holiness Church on Spring Street Bethel after a Germantown Kentucky visitor was refused departure. About 75 worshippers, many from Dayton Hamilton and Kentucky, left as authorities asserted no snake handling would occur. Deacon John Brockman had asked for help after failing to persuade the guest to leave.

School Head Dies at 52 in Owensville
Owensville High School principal Ralph J. Lemon died at Bethesda Hospital after a heart attack. Funeral and burial set for Friday at Maham funeral home in Williamsburg with Masonic services tonight. Lemon, a 1927 Wilmington College graduate, served as teacher coach and principal, and was to lead the new Northeastern high school. He is survived by his wife Mary three sons Ralph Jr Jack Benny and two grandchildren.

Man Bound Over In Morals Case Involving Children
Charles Smith, 53, of 3535 Columbia Parkway Cincinnati, bound over to Clermont County Grand Jury on two charges of taking indecent liberties with minors involving two New Richmond girls ages seven and 11. Mothers filed charges. prosecutor Ralph Hill said grand jury will hear case in about three months. Smith jailed on $1000 bond each charge.

Stow Learning Children May Be In Special Classes
Clermont County school leaders and County Board of Education members will convene September 24 at 1:30 p.m. in the county superintendent's office to discuss forming classes for slow learning children.
