Intelligence of the death of Michael Bethymer, aged pioneer, will bring surprise and grief. He lived on one Locust Corner farm for 58 years, born in Ohio in 1819 and one of thirteen children. He married Mary Archer in 1835 and had nine children including Dr. E T Bethyme. he was a devout M E church member since 1847, open-hearted to the poor, and active in local progress. He was buried from the family residence at Amelia cemetery.

Tragic Field Death Of Young Marathon Man
Charles McNutt aged 20 of Marathon died in a field Monday from heart disease. He had gone to herd hogs and was found face down with a discharged gun beneath him, though no wound was caused. McNutt had completed a year at Ohio Medical College and funeral services were held this morning as the community offered sympathy to his bereaved parents.

John Hathorne Eugene Dillon Mayor Joseph Shearer and George Hathorne summoned to appear before the United States court on October 2 to testify about a malt sack robbery at Loveland previously reported by the Courier. Hathorne was postmaster, George Hathorn deputy, Eugene Dillon a postal clerk travelling Cincinnati to Gratton on the B&O railroad. The tied sack was found with its contents scattered on a back street.

William Gaiser, longtime Loveland shoemaker, died Saturday morning from a self-administered chloral overdose. He had a history of periodic debauches lasting months, followed by work periods, and left a widow and children. A physician failed to save him after the dose, given by his young son who fetched the drug.
