Batavia Flower Show Delights Town with Colorful Displays

Batavia hosts its first Flower Show at the Armory organized by the Batavia Garden Club led by Mrs. J. M. Wiseman. Thousands visit as dahlias and gladiolas shine. judges award numerous prizes to residents including Mrs. W. W. Dennison, Miss Penn, and Miss Jennie Penn among others. The event, praised by judges Mrs. Lloyd and Mrs. Scanlon, may become annual or semi annual.

Death of Harry Moyer in Williamsburg

Harry Moyer of Williamsburg died Monday at 1:00 p.m. after a long illness. He and his wife moved from Cincinnati to Clermont county for health reasons and lived only a few weeks in his old hometown. He served four years as deputy auditor under Penn Williams and later worked for Governor Cooper in Cincinnati real estate sales. Funeral is Wednesday at 2 p.m. from M. B. church.

Rader Family Holds Annual Reunion at Owensville Fair Grounds

The Rader family reunion took place Sunday at the Owensville fair grounds with representatives from Amelia Hamlet Bethel Batavia De Kenwood Evanston and Toledo. J H A Rader was elected president and Myre Kiunk Ludlow served as treasurer.

Bridges offer state split on Batavia Williamsburg bridges

State Highway Department proposes a 50 50 share for two new $60000 bridges at Batavia and Williamsburg. County board says state must fund since bridges lie on state highways. a county bond issue could be needed if county assists. Both bridges are urgently needed as funds are appropriated and local workers await the project.

Williamsburg Wins in Pitching Duel to Eliminate Woodlawn

Williamsburg defeated Woodlawn 3 to 1 in a pitchers contest as Wilmers held Neihoff to two hits. Four teams remain in the elimination series New Richmond Erlanger Ludlow and Williamsburg undefeated and set for a three game series to decide the championship against teams with two losses.

Batavia Shoe Superintendent Killed in Collision

Howard Rogan, superintendent of the Batavia branch of the Sullivan Shoe Factory, Hyde Park, was killed Saturday morning when his car collided with M. M. Bushbacher's disabled truck on Rose's hill near Newtown. Both vehicles caught fire. Bushbacher escaped with minor injuries.

Labor Day Owensville Fair Grounds Draws Large Crowd

Labor Day event at the Owensville fair grounds sponsored by Clermont County American Legion drew more than 6000 spectators. The ideal weather, night illumination, and varied program included motorcycle races won by Rudy Bodenburg Herbert Gooman and James E Millinburg, boxing wins by Kid Katzie Pete Lee and Ted Graham, drum corps displays, Newport Norwood and Mt Washington prize results, and a concluding fireworks show.

Rose divorce suit against Cyril B Rose noted

Eva Juanita Rose sues Cyril Byron Rose in the Court of Common Pleas. The defendant built a fence for radio thieves in Ohio last winter and was convicted in Washington D C in February 1931. He is serving one to seven years at Mansfield Reformatory. Samuel W Sprague represents Mrs Rose.

Batavia man Chas Pierce fined and jailed for liquor dealing

Chas Pierce of Batavia was brought before Judge Woodmansee by Deputy Sheriffs A W Meinken and W E Kain on an old liquor dealing charge. He was ordered to pay $600 and costs, with 400 days to serve the fine after previously incurring a $400 fine. Officials had kept him under observation for some time.

Inspectors Named for Cigarette Tax Duties

J. J. Butler a Republican from Hillsboro and J. Wesley Gableman a Democrat from Portsmouth were appointed to represent the district. They began duties September 1 after schooling. Many applicants sought the posts with a salary of 1500 dollars annually plus expenses.
