A quiet eight o’clock ceremony took place at the Rogers home near Amelia on September 1 with Rev. A L Griffith officiating. Miss Bertha Rogers became the wife of Clifford Reed of Batavia township in the presence of immediate family and a few relatives. The bride wore Georgette and the groom wore a dark blue tailored suit. The couple plans to reside in a Davis Pike cottage near the groom’s parents after a short wedding trip.
The surviving members of the 89th regiment O. V. I. will hold their 48th annual reunion at Milford Park on September 17. All former officers and enlisted men are invited to attend.
At the Mayeville fair two weeks ago the crowded amphitheater collapsed causing numerous injuries and one death. The structure was old and condemned prior to the event.

The Clermont County Fruit Growers Association met August 28 at Amelia Bank with 12 members and high enthusiasm. President C T Brown presided as plans for September 16 apple grower tour were set. Growers reported over 4000 barrels of apples to sell this fall and efforts to connect with buyers were discussed. Membership is $2 annually to promote Clermont County as an apple center and improve market access.
Clarence Rice and Marie Craver were married last Wednesday evening in Cincinnati by Father Meyer and returned home Saturday for a brief wedding trip. Craver has worked at the Bell exchange and Rice is a Batavia foundry employee and World War veteran. They will reside at the groom’s parents’ home with Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Rice. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Craver and Wm. Craver Jr. attended.
The Clermont County Fruit Growers Association schedules the Annual Apple Tour for Wednesday September 15 beginning at James Conley’s orchard near Merwin. Participants will visit Jeas Cross near Locust Corner Albert Coombs near Hamlet Geo Kartz and J J Bolender near Felicity with expert advice on apple diseases and orchard care and a basket dinner in the Kurts orchard. The meeting starts at 9 80 a m at Conley’s orchard.
Clermont day at the zoo drew over 6,000 attendees with families from the county and beyond. A cub tiger was born and christened Clemont, while the day featured a ball game, dancing pavilion, pony track, merry-go-round, and ice cream stands, all praised by Allen C. Roudebush as preparations begin for next year.

C H Neal 58 a retired farmer hanged himself with a rope in the barn at his Cherry Grove home Tuesday morning of last week. Found by son in law Harry DeHart the family says Neal had suffered ill health and despondency. Survived by a widow and two children.
