Bantam Fair Exceeds Past Records with Spectator Flair

The Bantam Fair surpassed all previous exhibitions as entrys poured in from farm, garden, and workshop. Attendance reached 4,000 on Thursday with 1,605 gate receipts. 423 on Wednesday and a vibrant floral and livestock display impressed judges. Notables and sponsors enjoyed a lively, well-run event with improved facilities and strong community support.

In Batavia, James Campbell was nominated by the Seventh District Democrats for Congress amid noisy speeches and derisive remarks about his prior tenure. The meeting adjourned after approval of resolutions backing Cleveland's administration and the 1881 platforms.

Stabbing Garrote True Crime In Cincinnati Heist

In Cincinnati at Fifth and Race streets yesterday morning a thug used a garrote to steal $120 from A. B. McAdams of Williamsburg. Police fired twice, pursuing the assailant who fled around the corner. McAdams, a respected farmer, was uninjured and continued to his hotel.

Boston M E Sunday School Chooses Hulick for 45th Year

In Clermont county the Boston M E Sunday-school elected Abram Hulick its superintendent for the forty-fifth time on August 6. Over forty-four years he has opened and closed the school more than 2900 times, according to Nathan Anderson the county treasurer who lent the combination to the big safe.
