Brown Faces Tax Evasion Charges Against Loveland Chief
Harry L. Brown, president of Loveland Gas and Electric Co., and owner of several businesses, is indicted on four counts of tax evasion. The federal grand jury says Brown underreported personal and corporate income for 1954 through 1956, with owed taxes totaling $35,492. Readings include misstatements on 1954, 1955 and corporate returns for fiscal years ending March 31 1955 and 1956.

Tear Gas Drives Youth From Room
A youth identified as John W. Byrd 20 was driven from a barricaded second floor garage room by tear gas. Police and volunteers captured and shackled him then took him to Rollman Receiving Hospital for study. Benny Byrd the father called Sheriff Clyde B Dericks for help after the youth fired two loaded guns which were not used. He threw auto parts at Deputy Glen Ankrom during the incident on Summerside Road Tuesday afternoon.

New Presbyterian Church Organized in Mt Carmel
