Building Official Urges Changes In Clermont Code
Clermont County officials consider major updates to the county building code. The Board of County Commissioners rejected adding a Carr Rd segment to the township highway system as it is a private lane. County Inspector O O Mattox urged extensive code changes and a meeting with Prosecutor Ralph A Hill to review legal status before action. The enginee ring office added several subdivisions roads to the township system. Clermont County will receive 2500 from the federal government for care of dependent and neglected children, enabling a pay raise for boarding home care from 1.15 to 1.25 a day for normal children.

Woodward & Co. of Columbiana has been hired to establish true real estate values in Clermont County. Bids Sought for Clermont County Water Test Wells
Clermont County Board of Commissioners invites bids to drill test wells for the Miami Township water system at Boy Scouts Camp Friedlander near Miamiville. Bids open at 10 a.m. November 10. An agreement with Boy Scout officials may buy 17 acres if test wells prove adequate water. Westinghouse Generator Shipped to Beckford Station
The most expensive single cargo on the Ohio River arrived at CGE Beckford plant near New Richmond. A Westinghouse electric generator valued around 1% million was moved from Miami Fort Station to Beckford via rail and river, to serve unit four with 172000 kilowatts, lifting Beckford’s total to 514000 kilowatts and slated for spring 1958 operation. The turbine parts will follow in November and December. The boiler is under construction and will take 10 to 12 months to complete, with total Beckford unit four cost estimated at 24 million dollars including substation and transmission.
