Aging Batavia Woman Elizabeth Acra Dies at Home

Mrs. Elizabeth H. Acra died last Friday at her niece C. B. Griffis home in Batavia. She would have turned 89 in five days. She married B. F. Acra at Henrypointe in Batavia and her husband served two terms as county director and six years as superintendent of the institution. Funeral services were held at Griffis home with burial in Union Cemetery.

John McKenzie sues Interurban Railway and Terminal Co. for 1000 damages claiming loss of household furniture from the Amelia power house fire of September 27 1907. He and his wife lived above the depot where Vril Gas Light Co plant stood below. The gas explosion allegedly caused the depot blaze and total loss of effects.

New Loveland Postmaster Named in Federal Appointment

George W. Rich was appointed post master at Loveland, a presidential office with strong local backing. Rich, a prosperous businessman, earned endorsement from the county central committee and most business interests. The retiring postmaster V. T. Vandervort served about 12 years and left the position in good standing.

Tunnels Cavern Collapse Delays Rail Traffic After Heavy Rain

A cave in the Oak Street tunnels on the N and W Railroad halted traffic for hours after a torrential rainstorm, the heaviest in years. No loss of life. little damage or injury reported, just minor entrance disruption to the Northern depot.

Trestle Gives Way on C G and P Bridge Over Little Miami

Two hundred feet of the C G and P bridge over the Little Miami river washed out after a rapid rise. The eastern trestle and abutments dropped after a car passed. Transit has shifted to Interurban and Terminal Company lines to Gwenndolen for transfers back to the C G and P.

Hartwells Host Withameville Band Anniversary Event

Mr and Mrs G W Hartwell entertained the Withameville cornet band and guests from Cherryrove Withameville and Amelia totaling about seventy five attendees. Flowers and ferns decorated the house and porch while band piano and vocal music accompanied an elegant luncheon and a pleasant evening. The gathering honored the couple on their 19th wedding anniversary.

McGlasson Weds Mina Wilson Near Bethel

Chas McGlasson and Mina Wilson of near Bethel were married at Felicity on Wednesday by Rev. L aeons. McGlasson is a prosperous young farmer from Tate township and Mina is a singer daughter of Mr. and Mrs. La Hippie south of town. Congratula tions abound.
