Welfare Director Wayne Oney sought relief from the task, prompting a court clerk to handle roughly half the claims. The change affects cases from Judge Britton and mayor’s or justice court agreements, with non authority to collect in some cases. If payments fail, complainants may escalate to the prosecutor and grand jury.
Goshen Township Zoning Commission members speak to local groups to promote rural zoning as the first in Clermont County to appear on the ballot. Sheriff examined a two month old premature baby's burial in a Williams burg backyard after sister of Mrs. Helen Morgan 35 was reported. Coroner ruled natural death due to suffocation with no intent to destroy. Bonus checks from Korean Conflict Compensation Fund total 146355.40 to 590 Clermont County claimants announced by director Chester W. Goble.
The board approved a 33 614 foot mains extension to serve 40 homes on 43 roads in Clermont County with more areas to gain service soon. A public hearing is set for Nov 8 to review contracts for the new mains. Extensions also include 2500 feet on Mt Carmel Road in Hamilton County and 425 feet on Vic Barb Drive. The board also reached an agreement with Boy Scout officials to drill test wells at Edgar Friedlander Scout Camp near Miamiville along the Little Miami River pending signed paperwork.
County Auditor Earle B. Kincaid lists tentative 1957 tax rates for Clermont property owners across townships and districts. Rates shown are per $1000 of valuation with blanks where new or pending levies affect the year’s figures. No county wide levy or bond totals are included for the Nov election. local rate changes reflect ongoing district restructurings and pending votes.
Mrs. Sara Kirk of the Batavia unemployment office says Clermont County has over 700 applications from laid off workers, up from 512 a year ago. Weekly claims run about 200 higher, blamed on automotive layoffs, defense cutbacks, and slower building.
