Midwest Riders 4-H Club hosts third youth horse show

The Midwest Riders 4-H Club will hold its third fun show for youths 19 and under at Laurel-Lindale and Bethel-New Richmond Roads on Saturday October 7 at 1 p.m. Events include game, contest, halter, and performance classes with a 50 cent entry per class. Prizes include four place rosettes per class, plus high-point and reserve high-point trophies. No gate fee. all interested in horses invited. For more information call 558 3043.

Halloween Dance Planned by CAPH in Willowville

The Clermont Association for Physically Handicapped CAPH announces a Halloween Dance on Friday October 27 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Post 9630 WFW Hall 4283 Stoddard Lane. Weekend revival at Batavia Nazarene Fellowship Hall

Batavia Nazarene Fellowship Hall hosts a special weekend revival from Oct 6 to 8 with services at 7 30 p m on Friday and Saturday and 6 p m on Sunday. Rev Terry Kidd invites the community to attend with special nightly singing and plans to build a new sanctuary.

Harsha seeks 16.5 million for East Fork water project

U S Rep William H Harsha says his amendment to the Omnibus Water bill seeks 16 5 million in federal funding for Clermont s East Fork water treatment plant to serve Afton and the Ford Batavia plant He notes the bill would authorize the project and funds would depend on presidential approval and later negotiation with the Senate Funding could be reduced from 100 percent after opposition and as local support shifts He held meetings in Batavia with campaign staff and local commissioners and eyed a Washington Post editorial reaction to the effort

County officials seek federal funds for county water projects

Clermont County officials including Commissioner Jerome Wiesenhahn and County Administrator Bruce E. Henry traveled to Washington to press for continuation of CETA funds and to clarify legislative status. Wiesenhahn planned meets with Rep. William Harsha and Sen. Howard Metzenbaum staff while pushing for financing steps and approval of the Water Master Plan to be certified to the Ohio EPA.

Planners push zoning changes across several townships

The Planning Commission endorsed staff recommendations at its meeting, down zoning in Union Township and rezoning near Clough Pike. It approved two subdivision plans in Pierce Township and rejected a change to commercial use in Stonelick. In Union, 213 acres shift from M-1 to R-1, with another tract from R-3 to R-2 for higher density. Final plans for Commercial Boulevard Subdivision and KaBeard Hill Section II received approval, and Heritage Oaks residents won a sidewalk removal request to favor bus routes. Pierce approved Meadows Subdivision Block II plans and several lots along Fairway 13 and 14. Williamsburg approved a B-2 to B-2 zone on Old SR 32 Ellicks for a service business, but rejected a large mixed use plan near SR 133 due to environmental and treatment concerns linked to East Fork Lake.

Felicity voters reject 5.7 mill school bond issue

Felicity-Franklin School District voters turn down a 5.7 mill bond plan by 516 to 395, halting a $849,000 project for a new elementary school and capital upgrades. Board member John Born opposed the plan citing unfair costs to property owners, while noting high turnout.
