Impressive Dedication of Batavia High School Building
Last Saturday the Batavia community celebrated the dedication of the new Batavia High School with sunny weather and a large gathering. An automobile parade led by the Batavia Concert Band and the Boy Scout Band concluded at the school grounds where speeches by P F Jamieson Arch credited architects Fahnstock & Robertson and contractor Arthur Eveland highlighted construction and costs. The program honored teachers, students, and the community with remarks on education, and a 15 foot silk flag was raised before tours of the new building attracted about 1000 visitors. The facility opens Monday with Misa Sauer of Cincinnati overseeing the domestic science department weekly.

Marathon Man W H Hartman Dies After Short Illness
W H Hartman died at his Marathon home last Wednesday after a brief paralysis illness. He lived most of his life in Marathon except for Wilmington years serving as prosecuting attorney and nine years as mayor. Survived by widow and two daughters, he was 71 and esteemed for fair legal practice.Burial from his home followed by interment in Marathon cemetery.

Ohio State Opens Three Year Agricultural Course For Farm Boys
Ohio State University at Columbus through its college of agriculture will start the three year agricultural course on October 17 with about 400 men and boys expected to enroll for five months of live stock judging dairying and related studies. No high school training is required though applicants must have farm experience. The campus spans 650 acres with 42 buildings and practice teaching is emphasized using 40 horses 90 cattle 100 hogs and 125 sheep. Last year dairy students produced 70000 quarts of standardized milk and 34000 pounds of butter.
