Despondent wife shoots self at Batavia home
Mrs. Stockton of Nicholasville Road sustained self inflicted shotgun wounds in the left arm and chest after a despondent period since her baby's birth. Dallas Stockton reported the incident to Sheriff Clyde Dericks at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday. She was hospitalized in serious but improving condition.

Divers Search For Missing Man Alfred Stroup
Divers yesterday abandoned a Stone Lick Creek search for Alfred Stroup a 65 year old retired state highway employee missing from his Owensville home since last Thursday. A 300 man search last week followed a report by his wife. Sheriff Clyde Dericks and deputies had earlier dragged the creek before calling in divers. Stroup's dog returned home last Thursday evening.

State owes 32 Countians $276 in unclaimed bonds
The State of Ohio owes 33 former Clermont County residents $276 each as uncollected bonuses from World War II era salary deductions for United States bonds. Debts arose from incomplete bond purchases or stopped deductions, with balances dating from 1942 to 1953. About 18,000 in total is owed to over 2,200 people. Clermont County officials and Boy Scouts met at the scout headquarters to work out details for a $1.7 million Miami Township water system. The county offered $300 an acre for up to 17 acres at Camp Edgar Friedlander near Horner's Run on the Little Miami river for test wells and potential water plant location.
