Batavia Clermont College invites the public to an Open House on Sunday December 3 from 2 to 4 p m. Campus tours run 2 to 3 p m with faculty at station desks and staff to answer questions. Clough Pike Elementary PTA Bazaar Offers Breakfast With Santa

Clough Pike Elementary School at 808 Clough Pike hosts a bazaar on Saturday December 2 with Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. The breakfast costs 1 dollar and includes juice donuts milk or coffee. Santa's Secret Shop with Christmas gifts runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Needy Kids Dance To Benefit Clermont Children

The Afton VFW Post 3954 on Greenbriar Road will host a benefit dance for Clermont Army's needy children. The event is Saturday December 2 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with music by Jim Roundtree and the Down eed Majority. Admission is $10 per couple.

The Clermont County Unit of the Cincinnati Area Chapter American Red Cross will sponsor a CPR class at St. Bernadette School Amelia on December 2 from 8 30 a m to 4 30 p m with Shirley Russell as instructor. A 50 50 dance featuring the Green River Boys with Sam Murrell is set for November 25 at Holy Trinity Hall Batavia. The event occurs at 91 a.m. at the corner of 7th and Wood Streets.

Bethel hosts Clermont County League girls preview night

The 1978 79 Clermont County League girls basketball preview takes place at Bethel High School on Monday November 17 1978. The program begins with two quarters of Tavia versus Bethel, followed by volleyball awards, then Goshen versus Williamsburg for two quarters and Western Brown versus Felicity in the final half.

County judges weigh suit over jail conditions and plans

County Court Presiding Judge Robert Ringland warns of possible federal suit if commissioners do not present a definite jail improvement plan by January. The meeting reviewed overcrowding and inadequate heat in the juvenile and women’s sections, as commissioners discuss a $17,000 heating upgrade and pledge weekly progress reports to the county court judges.

Amelia Mayor Resigns. Vice Mayor Also Steps Down

Mayor William Pommert resigns at a Nov 15 village council meeting along with Vice Mayor Jim Davis. Richard Tennison is appointed to replace Davis. Pommert later leaves mayor's post effective midnight Nov 15 and on Nov 16 joins the Pierce Township board of trustees. He cited workload and study plans as reasons.

Plumbers forgo evaporation bed rule in Clermont County

Clermont County Board of Health voted to eliminate the requirement for evaporation beds behind septic systems after Dozier Plumbing representatives argued the beds were counterproductive. Douglas Rutherford of the plumbers association cited EPA bacteria limits and high solids counts, noting possible $500 savings on new homes. The association invites members to its December 21 meeting.

Felicity police levy defeated in recount

A recount of the Felicity village political measures shows the three mill renewal levy failed by 102 to 101 after the November election. Village solicitor says the levy can return on the ballot in next May's primary. Patrolman Hunter Matthews is paid through CETA funds.
