Ford Motor Co announces the Afton transmission plant is on schedule with the factory basics completed and about 85 percent of equipment received as of October 31. Production begins March 3, reaching 2,000 units daily after ramp up. rail shipments will dominate, with trucks and occasional air freight for exceptions.
Milford officials led by Village Manager Harry Hodges announce a new bridge will open in February. The 300 foot long 35 foot wide structure will replace the current bridge, with roads renamed and traffic split eastbound and westbound. Upon completion the old bridge will still carry reduced weight limits and the project includes landscaping and rock edging along the river.
Auditor James Rymer reports a surge of transfers to balance the general fund as departments respond to a November memo urging black accounts before the year end financial statement. He notes some grants follow different fiscal years and receipts may arrive in November or December. The auditor previously certified an extra $400,000 in February to secure a raise for the county.
