The Touch of Class Restaurant at the West Clermont Career Center 4342 Glen Este hosts a harvest buffet. Public invited, reservations requested by calling 752-8520 extension 241 before Thursday. Amelia will host its annual Christmas Sunday parade on December 8 with entries due by Tuesday. Elaine Detrich and Carolyn are listed as contacts, phone 753-6338. Batavia VFW Post 3954 in Afton will hold a steak dinner Saturday November 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Price seven dollars for a 12 ounce steak, with potatoes optional. Music and dancing till midnight.

Ford to lay off 325 at Batavia plant

Indefinite layoffs hit 325 Batavia Ford workers with no clear future. About 500 Sharonville plant employees are also to be laid off by Nov 30 amid prior temporary cuts totaling a two thousand workers. Union officials declined comment while press contact pointed to Detroit for statements.

Ten candidates led by Kerry Tarvin request recounts of November 3 ballots. Recounts set for Monday November 23 at 9 a.m. at Clermont County Board of Elections. Counties include Tate Township trustee race with 864 votes for Wisby trailing by six, Wayne Township trustee, New Richmond Village Council precincts A B C, and Williamsburg school board with Hicks at 489 votes.

New Batavia trustee cites police protection as top need

Batavia Township trustee elect Franklin G. Ritchie says police protection, roads, and drainage require upgrades. He defeated Calvin Lewis 958 to 851 and credits door to door campaigning in Amelia. Ritchie plans to discuss improvements with the other two board members first. Incumbent Louis Moore.

Batavia Township Budget Grows On Ford Taxes for 1981

Batavia Township’s 1981 budget reached 834,760 with 542,354.59 from Ford Motor Co taxes. Ambulance Clerk Richard Fox says funds funded a fire jeep, salvage truck for Batavia Township fire department, a dump truck with plow, cemetery fencing, road repairs, maintenance gear, and Riverside Drive building work. Re-election saw 1,305 votes. trustee Clarence Lytle not up for election.
