Fire damages restaurant in Williamsburg building

Fire caused about 1500 in damage to the Harry Hines property on Main street opposite Farmers and Merchants Bank in Williamsburg. The blaze was confined to the second story and damaged three businesses while the Tipps family occupied the upper living area.

Pleasant Ridge Woman Drowns After Ferry Jump

Matilda Specklin Hilton, 52, of Pleasant Ridge, jumped from a ferry boat at New Richmond Thursday at 3 30 and drowned before aid arrived. Survived by son Ralph. She had been ill a time. Felicity Men Arrested in Chicken Theft Case

Buck Lester Hall and George Patrick, both of Felicity, were arrested Monday afternoon on an affidavit by Deputy Sheriff Frank Perry charging chicken stealing from July 8. The theft involved Silver Lace Wyandott fryers from Arthur Fancher. They pleaded not guilty before Justice Natty Altman and were released on their own bond pending further hearing.

Clermont County School and Bond Issues Vote Totals

Official Clermont County results show eight school levies and a Felicity bond passed while a county wide 11-2 mill relief levy failed. Only Tate school district defeated an 8 mill levy, 674 to 526, and Felicity bond issue carried 248 to 84.

Walter Smith Elected New President of Farm Bureau

Walter Smith a Monroe Township farmer was elected president of Clermont County Farm Bureau at its 19th annual meeting in Batavia. Herman Fagley and Mrs. Harry Nott were named vice president and secretary treasurer with a full slate of district directors. Smith will also serve as official voting delegate to the State Farm Bureau meeting in Columbus November 29 and 30 with Fagley as alternate. Ed J. Bath spoke as the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation legislative agent.

Frank White, clerk of the Board of Elections, released the official counts for Clermont County boards of education and township offices across 14 townships. Several top vote getters did not file petitions and may not qualify unless they meet the 8 percent threshold. list includes candidates for each township and several precincts with noted long and short term terms.
