About 200 citizens visited the Ohio Penitentiary on Sunday to hear Gen. S. F. Carey of Cincinnati speak to 309 inmates in the chapel. Governor Seabury Ford issues a statewide proclamation designating Thursday November 29 as a day of Thanksgiving. Based on the Piketon Journal report Mr Sewel of near Waverly died suddenly on the 30th last while intoxicated. As he tried to mount his horse to return home he fell and expired immediately, with no eyewitness to the moment of the fall.
