The First District Court of Appeals upholds Stonelick Township Trustees ruling to halt a 348 unit mobile home park on 44 acres at SR 131 Goshen Road, after township zoning prohibited such developments and an injunction was sustained.
The Clermont County community announces the first annual Fred Hoh Award honoring police service. The award, announced by Batavia Police Chief N C Ward, will include an engraved revolver. Nominees are sought from the sheriff, state patrol, area mayors, police, and the public.
Clermont County commissioners vote to advertise bids for a 5 million dollar sewer system serving Miami Township Isene Village and parts of Stonelick Township. Bids due by 10 a.m. December 1. Financing features federal grants revenue bonds and property assessments. An OKI regional planning payment of 6000 is approved. An 85 000 reinvestment in U S Treasury notes and testing services for Felicity Franklin sewer work are authorized. A janitor is hired for the courthouse at bi weekly 139.
Progress toward annexing the area west of Batavia including the airport and a University of Cincinnati branch is advancing. Myles Elston, chairman of the annexation committee, said a survey and area description are finished and residents will soon circulate petitions.
Charter member Edgar Anstaett locks in the mortgage payment as banked by Clermont Sportsmen Inc. President George Rooks watches. The 1940 pledge funded by club members includes the Studer property on the East Fork near Batavia. Early charter members Bill Dewdney Fred Winter and Jack Buerkle are noted as deceased.
Two fires caused about 300 bushels of potatoes 50 bales of straw and equipment to be lost in a Perin town barn owned by Elmer Stegbauer. Fire chief said no electricity but still suspected arson. A separate straw pile near SR 222 and SR 132 for Appalachian Highway seeding was set ablaze and largely saved by Batavia Fire Department.
The FOP Dance by Tri County Lodge 106 will be held at the Afton VFW Hall with a live band. Door prizes are planned and refreshments will be available.
Batavia Township Zoning Commission filed three zoning change applications approved by Clermont County Planning Commission. Hearings set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at Batavia Township Hall. Proposals include Ag to Industrial for 48 acres by Burkle and Anstaett along SR 32, Ag to R-2 for 21 acres and 46 acres to R-3 at SR 222 and Slade Road. Neyer Inc requests zoning changes.
Judge Raymond Shannon of the First District Court of Appeals in Cincinnati will address the Kiwanis Farm Home Night on Monday November 23. He has served the area since 1951, holding posts as assistant prosecuting attorney, Cincinnati Municipal Court judge, Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas judge, and since February 1968, Court of Appeals judge. He will discuss present problems of today’s society.
In Clermont County Mussey totals 12 762 and Malott 10 820. Combined county tallies certify 15 736 for Mussey and 15 579 for Malott and a 157 vote margin is recorded. A recount may be started within five days across 172 precincts.
Milford officials consider granting a 50 year franchise to Southwestern Ohio Cablevision Inc. owned by Roland and Betsey Reed to build a community antenna system. Proponents cite access to 27 stations and balanced color while costs range from 4 to 5 dollars per month plus 10 dollars for a later hook up. A survey by the Chamber and The Milford Advertiser will gauge public opinion.
Two special elections are planned with Batavia School District voting December 8 on a 2.80 tax levy per thousand valuation that failed 624 to 534 last week. Ohio Township trustees set February 9 for a zoning resolution vote to prevent large mobile home parks and junkyards, aiming to act before the next regular election.
Batavia businessmen agreed Monday to cover half of 707 dollars for a portable communications component. The council accepted the offer praising civic interest. Don Saylor urged that police be able to summon help when not in a cruiser and noted the association will erect its Nativity scene later this month.
Trustees approve zoning tweaks and denials affecting properties along Highway 28 Milford Hills drive I-275 and SR 131. Actions include changes from residence A to commercial B 1 and from residence A to residence C with water and sewer considerations and a 15 565 acre parcel by Robert T Ryan Co. plus Orville Wright development for two 36 unit apartment buildings with 144 parking spaces and recreation facilities in Miami Township.
