The Batavia O E S Chapter gave a Halloween party at the Masonic lodge room on Monday night for members families and visiting members. Masks provided amusement and a short program followed when they were removed. An old fashioned Halloween lunch was enjoyed by all. The order shows strong attendance and interest in the work.
Mr and Mrs Frank Knawer of Batavia celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday at 4 p m with 55 people including his 92 year old mother Mrs Elizabeth Knawer and relatives from Danville Idel bert Davidson Cincinnati California Hamilton Hillsboro Williams burg Piketon and Batavia Four generations were present a fine dinner followed the ceremony and well wishes for many more years in Batavia

T. D. Rush aged 71 of Georgetown died Monday afternoon at Bethesda hospital Cincinnati after undergoing amputation of his left leg above the knee for blood poison. He had been ill for several weeks. A son, daughter, sister Mia. Gus Haya of Norwood and a brother BE. 8. Rush of Batavia survive him. Funeral at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday.
The U.S. Grant cabin and bridge dedication at Pt Pleasant on the A and P highway drew about 4000 people. Ex chief Justice Nichols presided with Gen A S Grant III and other Grant family members present. Speakers included Bishop Cranston and Dr C W Blodgett. a shrine is expected to be built within five years.

Little Jack Spahr two years old of Milford died after falling into a vault on James Livengood's lot. The death occurred about 11 in the morning as he played in the yard. Marshal Pierson and others recovered the child and life was ended. Mrs Livengood, adjudged insane, was arrested and sent to Longview hospital. she had prior treatment at Dayton hospital.

Next Sunday morning the U B church will hear Life's Bitterness How to Meet it and Otterbein Guild will present an interesting play.
Last Thursday night at the armory a Sunday school class led by Mrs Jess Anderson hosted a quilt show. Old quilts were on display with fine needlework and some pieces quilted by candlelight nearly a century ago. The exhibit praised past quilters and noted wedding dresses with long trains, contrasting with modern fashion.
