Polar Bear Battle Off Labrador Coast Captured on Island

The Lord Exmouth of Halifax crew shot a 16 foot 2290 pound polar bear on an island near Labrador after a lengthy chase. Six crew members plus eight muskets returned to the site. Dixon led a landing and multiple volleys before the bear collapsed and died. Live fat and many bullets were recovered.
