District election board to rule on Hildebrant nomination

A district election board session in Xenia will consider Hildebrant’s nomination certificate amid protests citing the Scroggy Hildebrant ruling. Judge Horace L Smith says he has not filed a nomination certificate or objections, leaving the outcome to future review after August 1.

Township Board Hires Teachers in Special Session

The Monroe township board of education met in special session on May 26 and appointed J Vogel for Pt Pleasant, John Drummond for Laurel, Dale McKinley for Lafayette, and C A Meeker to oversee the Patterson commencement. Pupils passing the examination must report to the board clerk immediately.

General Grant Williams aged 21 died at his mother Mrs. Leslie Jones home after a year long illness with consumption on Tuesday May 20 1906. He was highly regarded by the community and known as an exemplary young man.

Midnight postoffice thefts shock Milford and Waynesville

Two nearby post offices were robbed last week by a methodical gang active in Ripley Hamersville Batavia and nearby. four men struck Waynesville securing about 300 while Milford suffered a broken grate to enter Joseph Worz shop tools were stolen and a horse and buggy were later found at Xenia no arrests have been made and repeat raids suggest easy targets.

The Behymer family and relatives held their annual fish dinner at Eight Mile last Saturday. About five hundred attendees enjoyed river fish, fowl, desserts, and socializing, with Gee Behymer as president and Nina Behymer as secretary. R. W. C. Gregg served as treasurer, with Batavia guests J. R. Woodlief and Mrs. Gregg and son George in attendance.

Batavia Chapter No. 20 held its annual inspection at Masonic Hall on Wednesday evening with Deputy Grand Matron Sister May Elliott of Cincinnati present. The exemplified work was excellent and Sister Colline received the emblem of the order, the five pointed star, in appreciation. Refreshments followed, and a social hour concluded the gathering.
