Death of John Behgmer the Third at 91 in Pierce township
John Behgmer the Third a longtime Pierce township resident died at his home near New Palestine at age ninety one years and two months. He was famed as a fife shooter wrestler and fleet runner and lived on the Ten Mile Creek farm for eighty seven years. He survived his wife Nancy Leach by eleven years and left thirteen children eight living including sons Born Jerome Edwin and Oena. Several descendants and relatives remain nearby with ties to Anderson Indiana Cleves Ohio Wilkins ville and Muncie Indiana. Two of his sons Perry and Clare died in the Union army with Clare perishing at Andersonville.

At the regular monthly sale of horses and mules at Winchester last week there were many offerings and a fairly strong market. Prices realized ranged from good draft horses 95 to 105 dollars and 160 for extra good driving horses. Saddle horses brought 85 to 100 dollars while mules 14 to 14 hands high sold for 55 to 60 dollars and 15 hands for 65 to 70 dollars. Horses 15 to 16 hands and 16 hands fetched 100 to 110 dollars, with extra 130 to 145 dollars for 16 to 16 hands high animals.
