Lake reservation leases 17S acre tract to Historical Preservation for restoring the Pinkham farm. Lemar Weaver serves as president of Historical Preservations and signs the lease as official.
Batavia High School reaches the final round of Channel 5 It’s Academic after winning two early rounds. Team members include Carl Mining Judy Nichols Jeff Dinnen with alternate Vicki Cribbet. sponsor Mrs. June Keifer. Final airs the weekend of June 1 1972.

A gunpoint robbery at Thornton Service Station 270 W Main Batavia yielded 1000 dollars in cash. Attendant Robert Sumler 31 said a single assailant robbed him at 10 45 pm. Police reported Sumler intoxicated and a breath test inconclusive. Station manager Roger Grubbs had left work 15 minutes earlier.
The Youth Services Bureau of Giermont County gains a federal grant totaling $60,000 to support unruly minors and court-involved youths. A 21 member advisory commission was appointed to implement the program, with advisors including Virginia Zimmerman and other three and two year members, forming a groundwork for operation.
County officials report progress and delays in transferring a 6100 square foot building to the Board of Mental Retardation from Clermont County Council for Retarded Children. The new school may incur liquidated damages of 200 dollars daily from May 22 until completion, with weather blamed for delays. Commissioners worry about fall readiness while project staff stay hopeful. The sheltered workshop will halt June 18 to allow relocation.
Multiple communities schedule Memorial Day observances on Monday May 28. BMOP Fire Dept forms at 8 a.m. in Amelia for a parade to Amelia Elementary School with services by city officials and veterans units. Batavia, Bethel, Milford and Owensville also plan parades or memorial services at local cemeteries and civic buildings with Legion and VFW sponsorship.
