Judge Markley hears the long running contempt cases of attorneys Bambach Cover and McNan tied to the Rhodes indictment in Brown County. Testimony reveals disputed actions by Judge Parrott and grand jurors, fueling partisan tensions and accusing Clermont Democrats of deep-seated corruption while urging readers to consider Republican alternatives.
John Wayland, longtime Batavian now in Chicago railroad work, arrived in Batavia for a brief home visit. He toured familiar sights, noted changes from railroads to power houses, and was welcomed warmly by relatives and old friends during his stay with sister Mrs. A. M. Dimmitt.
The Lindale Grange P. of H. No. 248 Ohio opens a press bureau and warns the public against Jigger a local fraud. It details preventive measures against a parasitic insect and remedies for skin hives while urging caution and public awareness. It also notes a Colic remedy's praise and a July 4 Batavia road projection by President Comstock.

Relatives report no word from EK Crane who vanished after weeks of financial trouble affecting creditors and clients. Marriage licenses listed include Thomas Coombs and Elenor Lickinger, Clarence Smith and Claudia Williams, with several other couples and witnesses noted amid local business and jail matters.
Clermont residents report Mrs. Della Nichols and Miss Elia Dixon in Los Angeles with new posts in city schools. Abner L. Ross reelected Ohio Society of southern California president. The Cleveland Grays entertained Clermont visitors. Roosevelt lauded Southern California as a paradise during visits to Ventura and Los Angeles.

Post members meet at Dennison building at 9:00 a m for church muster and Decoration Day events May 30 at 4 p m escorted by the Bata via band. Flowers accepted for post room collection. Memorial services also at M E church Owenaville May 24 led by Rev Patton Newtown. Billman to preach at Stonelick May 24 at 2 p m. Old Bethel Decoration Day to feature a large ceremony with graves decorated by soldiers and citizens and Rev W H Batley to speak. Church gathering at nine o clock.
The Georgetown postmaster received a raise from 1500 to 1600 dollars while the Greenfield postmaster’s pay dropped from 2800 to 2200 dollars in a recent adjustment.
The largest Sunday-school gathering of the year will run June 9 to 11 in Portsmouth. Leading national specialists will assist, and the program is described as one of the strongest. About two thousand top Sunday-school workers are expected to attend.
Sarah O Carel Avey died at her Olive Branch home on May 1 1908 at age 92 She joined the M E church in 1829 and married Joseph Avey in 1831 Eight children were born with six surviving Her funeral was at Olive Branch May 16 conducted by Rev W Brown Martha M Willison died May 12 1905 at Olive Branch Married W S Willison in 1862 she had eight children seven living and was buried in Olive Branch cemetery
