Village Census Rush for New Richmond Exempted Status

A federal census was taken in New Richmond to support the village’s bid for exempted village school status. Census takers Joseph Ruggles, Mrs. Wilberta Breller, Mrs. Evelyn Zimmerman, Miss Lucretia Sizemore, and Alva Thompson collected counts as the village argues for a population over 2000 after annexations, with state approval needed by July 1 to secure the exemption.

State rejects Bethel request for exempted village status

The State Department of Education rejected Bethel's bid for exempted village school status because the village population did not reach 2000 per the 1950 census. Officials said a public poll would decide if a special federal census costing 600 dollars should be sought.

Boys Plead Guilty In Mayor's Court

Survey results show demand for extended area service to Cincinnati

G A Clark of Clermont County reports 1 842 responses from 2 514 mailed survey forms about telephone service in the Bata via Exchange area. Of those, 1 187 or 64 4 percent favor extended area service to the Cincinnati metropolitan rate area without tolls, representing 47 2 percent of total area customers. Clark emphasizes the need for a clear customer preference and a sound business plan.

Air Force Plane Crashs Into Car At Bethel Airport

A small Air Force plane piloted by Leonard E. Wagner of Cincinnati crashed into a parked car owned by Floyd Allen of Route 3 Georgetown after veering out of control during take-off from Bethel Airport Saturday. The pilot was unhurt.
