Sheriff raid nets large home brew haul at Clare farm
Sheriff Roberts and deputies Meinken and Kain raided the Mc Kibben farm in Tate township last Friday, seizing 188 quarts of home brew and several fermenting jars. The brew was destroyed except for evidence. Clare was cited to appear Saturday with a hearing set for Thursday. this marks a second raid in one week.

Opening bids for the A P highway section between Pt. Pleasant and Neville showed Nick Cenci of Columbus as the low bidder with 216 900 dollars. Freak Jersey calf with no eyes seen on Slade farm

Prominent Man Dies in Williamsburg at 77
J Harvey Smith of Williamsburg dies May 9 after brief illness at his home. Survived by widow Della Smith and two siblings Dennis H. Smith of Williamsburg and Mrs Geo Kain of Long Beach California. He was a Mason, member of the M E church and Order of the Eastern Stars. Funeral Monday afternoon drew large attendance.

Batavia Woman's Club gathered at Mrs. W. C. Bishop's home with The Fortnightly Club members and guests. Papers and music highlighted the event, followed by a luncheon. Louella Gardner Widing, born 1868, died May 1 1931 at 62, survived by husband Robert Widing and two children Elmer and Edna. Her obituary honors 20 years in Williamsburg and a life of neighborly kindness and faith. Card of thanks from the Widing family expresses gratitude for support, music, flowers, and services.

Insanity Hearing Held For Wm Henderson Boshears
Prosecuting Attorney Forrest E Ely attended the insanity hearing at Lima State Hospital for Wm Henderson Boshears charged with first degree murder in Clermont County. Boshears was previously sent to the hospital last fall after pleading insanity to a killing at Nine Mile on Decoration Day. The hearing shifts responsibility to the state.

Murderer Surrenders After Fatal Train Shooting Near Afton
Luther Davis confessed to fatally shooting D. G. Brooks a colored cook on the work train near Afton Bata via Saturday night April 25 following a dispute over cold bread. He claims self defense and says it was either shoot or be shot. Davis surrendered to Sheriff Roberts and Prosecutor Ely Monday and is jailed awaiting grand jury action.

Edith Tarbell widow of Judge J W Tarbell who died last night of peritonitis was buried here last Saturday. Judge Tarbell presided over Brown county Common Pleas Court from 1912 to 1927 and was once a Democratic candidate for nomination to the Ohio Supreme Court. River Fishing Rules Cut Limits Across Species
State game protector David Bowersox in Hamilton County warned fishermen about new limits. Crappies are limited to 25 per day, down from 40, while rock bass and bluegill drop from 25 to 20. Black bass season starts June 16 with a limit reduced to 8. Open season remains on the three smaller species. fish are plentiful in all streams.
