Clermont County library levy wins by narrow margin

Leo Melrose announced the Clermont County library levy passing 9,813 to 8,962 on a half mill continuing tax. He praised the 52.2 percent approval and said the funding will support planned growth and library services.

Library board to plan first project Monday

William Walker arrived at the elections office to printouts for the Republican nomination for common pleas judge and will face Democrat Paul Yelton in November. Walker said grass roots organizing beat name recognition, with dozens of workers in every precinct. Voters in West Clermont and Felicity Franklin districts approved bond issues. Goshen voters rejected both the 7.9 mill school levy and 3 mill ambulance levy. Secretary of State staffer Pam Blick from Circleville and David Little worked with area on Goshen concerns as Sherrod Brown eyed the levy as a potential statewide trouble spot, though no trouble occurred.

Federal team reviews charges in Clermont County schools

Federal investigators from the U S Department of Education Civil Rights division are in Clermont County this week inspecting classes for disabled children in all districts and county programs. Deputy regional director Linda McGovern says the probe covers placement in least restrictive settings and compliance of individual education plans with federal law. The team also checks handicapped facilities against academic levels. Two Cleveland division staff and two Chicago region staff participate in the early stage.

YMCA seeks bonds for pools and sports facilities

Clermont County YMCA seeks 900000 in community development revenue bonds to fund outdoor pools and field sports near 2075 Front Wheel Drive Afton. The Community Improvement Corporation will review May 9 at 1 30 p m in Batavia Heritage Building. Project adds 20 jobs and 75000 annual payroll. bonds expected around June with Bank One Milford expressing interest. Phil Mallers aims to have the pool ready by July 22 for summer use.
