In a special session the Clermont County Board of Commissioners approved numerous payments for burial, jail, jailer fees, repairs, supplies, and services. Contracts for bridges and culverts were awarded, and withdrawals from county suits were accepted as part of ongoing fiscal adjustments. The meeting adjourned to Williamsburg to review examiner findings.
Dyer confirmed as superintendent by the board caucus. Professor Dyer, regarded as a top state educator, is chosen with a salary of 4500 dollars per year. The decision reflects the board’s confidence in his many attributes and fitness for the post.

A Sunday morning fire at the home of Mrs Laula Platt in Weat Union killed Mrs Platt aged 00 and her granddaughter aged nine. Joseph Stagg and his wife of Lockland were visitors at the residence at the time.
The 1828 Hamilton House in Clermont county undergoes a flooring upgrade. its worn boards, traveled by Ohio statesmen, soldiers, and lawyers, symbolize a long Democratic party headquarters era. Ownership passed through Jamieson, Leeds, Jonathan Johnson, and J. H. Hamilton before current manager Thomas Hamilton.

The C. G. and P. Railroad reduced travel rates last week, lowering Cincinnati to Georgetown fare to 80 cents and round trip to $1.50 from $1.70. Amelia fare drops from 40 to 30 cents with round trip at 55 cents. The move aims to boost travel, with the company gaining by higher volume.
DiWford Woods appointed chief deputy to Collector Amor Smith Jr. in Cincinnati's custom house. He succeeds Col. D W McClung and will take office on the 1Sth. Woods, a well known young attorney and staunch Republican, is sister to Austin Woods of Batavia schools and a native Clermont resident, son of the late Dr Woods of Chile.
Two houses in Williamsburg faced destruction by fire on Monday. The Beal residence and a house occupied by Mr. Blair on the hill were ignited around noon, but neighbors and the bucket brigade quickly extinguished the flames. Damage was light.
The ladies of the M E guild reopen their rummage room in the law building basement under Judge Breeding's office tomorrow. Sale of cheap and good goods continues until Saturday evening with pleasant lady clerks to assist. Bargain hunters should visit before closing.
In Clermont County villages last week electric lights spread to Williamsburg with plans for a two story town hall. Loveland banks organize a National Bank with $25,000 capital and a 24 year bond plan. Afton gas venting from a shallow pocket caused a large flame during boring for water. A four year old suffered facial burns from an old powder in a box. A large tin and japanned goods plant is planned in Loveland employing up to 800 workers.
Judge Dempsey’s term expired at midnight and he begins law practice with former partner William M. Fridman. The firm, Dempsey and Fridman, will occupy Rooms 44 and 45 in the St Paul Building, with Herman Nieberding joining the office. Four undecided cases are in his hands as he resumes his legal career amid expectations of a large practice.
Contractor Hal C. Jeremiah completed the new machine shop and it goes into operation today. About fifteen machines, including four lathes, stress high quality, aimed at iron products. The plant, small yet meticulous, will expand with demand and hire twenty expert workers. Frank Moore of Washington, D. C. visited Batavia and New Richmond relatives last week. he is the late B. F. Moore’s son and now in the grocery business.
Following the board of education meeting, eight staff members were chosen including L. Turnipseed as superintendent and Florence Wilson as principal. Also listed are teachers for rooms 7/8 KR, rooms 1 4 5 2, primary staff, and a note on the death of R. D. Cramer of Pleasant Plain Warren county with burial on Thursday.
Henry Vaughn a Milford resident and bridge foreman for the road died after being run over by a train on Pennsylvania tracks at Hartman's Grove Monday night. The body was taken to the morgue where Coroner Weaver of Hamilton County held an inquest.

Jamieson also funded a handsome parsonage for the church, a long-standing pillar of support for over forty years.
Exarotper Wood concludes examination of Warren County affairs and reports two year excesses beyond legal sanction. Audits show 62.80 in tileage and railroad appraisals, 12 in Dow tax collections, 140 for township roadists, 75 authorized by commissioners, 10 for clerk of court, 157 charged to the sheriff, 58.85 for investigation and related overcharges, citing precedent of prior auditors.
A Cincinnati property holder sued the City and Suburban Telegraph Association for poles placed against her curb. The general term court ruled abutting property owners have rights to street use to the street center, limited only by public travel needs, and ordered pole removal and ground restoration.
