Father guilty on all counts in abuse trial verdict
In Batavia a seven year old testified detailing beatings and sexual abuse by his father as two uncles and the mother faced multiple rape and endangering counts. The jury found the father guilty on three rape counts, four endangering counts and nine complicity charges, receiving nine consecutive life terms and related sentences totaling around 20 years before parole eligibility.

UC Denies Opposition to Study on Clermont Campus

Fire chief to be honored with 1984 Community Services Award
New Richmond Fire Chief James Herbert receives the 1984 Community Services Award from the New Richmond Community Club for decades of service. Since joining the village fire department in 1936 he helped organize the Fire Cadet program in 1982 and the village life squad in the 1950s. His name will be engraved on a hall plaque and he will be guest VIP at an April 23 dinner.

Unemployment in Clermont County Edges Down in 1984 Start
Clermont County Ohio unemployment eased as weather improved. Bill Ankram of the county Bureau of Employment says calls are increasing and the job market is improving. January 1984 rate stood at 11.2 percent, down from 11.8 in December. The 1983 average was 12.4 percent.

Tractor Trailer Drops From Bridge In Pierce Township
A tractor trailer hauling 20 000 pounds of sand fell from a bridge on Genny Lind Road at the Concord intersection in Pierce Township around 3 15 p m. The rig struck the guard rail and rolled onto its side. No injuries were reported. Police and Ohio Highway Patrol blamed misjudgment rather than overload. Neither the patrol nor Pierce Township cited the driver.
