Amelia Chamber of Commerce Votes Officers for Year

The Amelia Chamber of Commerce elected Harold L. Windeler as president and Nelie Mattox as vice president on March 18. Car Mattes will serve as secretary and Herbert Jeffries as treasurer with six directors named. A program for the year will be discussed at the April 15 meeting at Amelia school. Courteous Driver Recognition For Local Beer Truck Driver

Batavia court to award a certificate of recognition to Wesper Wespesser a 46 year old beer truck driver for February. The citation notes his courtesy at Main and Water Streets on February 4 when he paused to let a 9 year old cross before turning. Clermont County Traffic Safety Council approved the honor after a report from Batavia Police Chief Ed Colonel.

PTA Auction Set for May at St. Bernadette Parish

The Amelia parish PTA announces its annual spring auction on Saturday May 8. Auction chairman Nancy Kayser says donations of old furniture appliances utensils antiques and tech will be collected in advance. Peter Heckter serves as auctioneer and details on pickup and dropoff will be announced.

The Clermont Courier Easter Egg Hunt will start at 2 p.m. Saturday April 5 on the American Legion grounds near Batavia. Don Evans leads with assistants Gene Gordon and Calvin Lewis. Prizes total at least 72 from Batavia businesses with dozens more prizes across many firms.

Opponents Seek More Time on Amelia West Clermont Vote

Residents in the old Amelia district oppose joining West Clermont and plan to press for another vote. The Tri- Area Committee hires attorney Sol Goodman to pursue legal action, including a mandamus suit if the county board of education does not set a special election. County Churches Unite for Holy Week Services Across Clermont

Clermont County churches coordinate union Holy Week observances. Palm Sunday events in Batavia at First Methodist Church feature a joint choir program. Good Friday services run 12 to 3 p.m. at Evangelical United Brethren Church with pastors delivering the Seven Last Words. Sunrise service 6:30 a.m. Easter on Kahle's Hill near Batavia.
