Louisa Levy of Goshen, working for neighbors to earn daily bread, becomes pregnant by her father figure John Kipp. She conceals the birth and tosses the infant into a stream, its body found the next morning. She is arrested for child murder and kept under guard at her stepfather’s home.
A remembered Thursday night scene follows Louisa as she endures cold rain and sorrow. The next morning John Kipp discovers a dead newborn beside O Banion creek, presumed to be born of the same night. The coroner rules death by drowning and Miss Levy is arrested and jailed on suspicion of crime.

A stray shot mortally wounds a five year old girl in her mother's yard, and a soldier who unknowingly fired is found dead soon after. An unknown man boarded an east bound O and N W freight near Cincinnati yards Thursday. At Idlewild junction more cars were added and one car derailed, rolling down a steep embankment. The man was trapped in debris with serious injuries and taken to Newtown for care. He had once worked at the Cincinnati Hotel on Ninth Street and Broadway. his identity remains unrevealed.

Halinton celebrated Mrs. George McNuair’s 24th birthday with a friendly gathering and lunch.
