Washington dispatch reports renewed drive by Van Buren supporters with traveling agents spreading rumors to boost party hopes. It notes alcohol fueled gambling in taverns, and details Ohio Convention delegates counted only by occupied ground rather than heads. In the Senate on Friday March 5 1836 Mr Penrose offers a resolution urging reciprocal commercial ties among states and opposing Ohio measures to ban Bank of the United States branches.
