The well known stone mason James Vance, called Uncle Jimmy, loses his house with contents and outbuildings in a Wednesday fire. The property valued about 1200 dollars had no insurance. Two aged persons added to his season’s losses: Mrs Sarah Bethymer, 83, died at Summerside on the 10th, and Jacob Nort, 73, died at Lacrel on the 12th.

Forty eight tons of monetary specie were shipped from the New York sub treasury last Saturday to Havanee to pay the Cuban army.
