Charles Wilson visits Butler county.
Leander Zimmerman a brave soldier from the 1st Ohio artillery was surprised March 4 by relatives and friends with a large dinner. Guests included the Young and Kaine families, Otis Kaine and others. Zimmerman visits relatives in Highland county, Edwin Johnson from Cincinnati visits his sister, and Hamer Fite is called to Brown county for sickness. A note ends with curiosity about a young Miller’s frequent Brown county visits.

In Loveland on August 8 1885 M W Craft was accused of beating his wife and child. Henry Grady Charles Henry John Blevins and John Whalen helped restrain Craft and were fined by Squire Simonton. Whalen aged eighteen fled to Chillicothe and later served six months in the Clermont workhouse for beating Craft. He is son of James Whalen a Little Miami conductor. The issue promotes The Boyhood Days of General Grant in a new March 13 serial by Colonel Frank A Barr published by James Elverson Philadelphia now in its seventh year.
